The 991 introduced an entirely new platform and chassis for the 911 series, featuring a mix of lightweight materials such as aluminum and high-strength steel. This contributed to increased rigidity and reduced weight. he Porsche 991 marked the return of turbocharged engines to the base Carrera models. This transition from naturally aspirated engines to turbocharged engines improved performance and efficiency. Featured retractable door handles, which automatically extended when the car was unlocked and retracted when the car was in motion or locked. This design element enhanced the sleekness of the car’s exterior. Porsche utilized lightweight materials, such as aluminum and magnesium, in the construction of the Porsche 991 to reduce weight. The doors, hood, and fenders were made of aluminum, contributing to improved performance and fuel efficiency. The Porsche 991 GT2 RS set a record-breaking lap time of 6 minutes and 47.3 seconds on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, making it the fastest street-legal production car around the track at the time.
