The Porsche 964, produced from 1989 to 1994, served as a transitional model between the classic 911 design and the modernized 993. It retained the iconic silhouette of the 911 but introduced significant technological and design updates. The Porsche 964 was the first 911 model to offer all-wheel drive as an option. Known as the Carrera 4. The 964 showcased several design updates compared to its predecessor. These included integrated bumpers, redesigned side mirrors, and a more aerodynamic shape. It also introduced the distinctive “teardrop” shape for the headlights, which became a signature feature of subsequent 911 models. The Porsche 964 marked the end of an era as the last air-cooled 911 model before the transition to water-cooled engines with the subsequent 993 generation.
